Culpeper Regional Hospital and UVA Medical Center Sign Agreement to Explore Partnership
Culpeper Regional Hospital (CRH) and the University of Virginia Medical Center (UVAMC) have taken the first steps in forming a new partnership between the two health care providers. Under the terms of the Letter of Intent approved by the leadership of both institutions, UVAMC would receive a 49 percent interest in CRH.

Under the terms of the letter, subject to required approvals, UVAMC would invest substantial capital in CRH, which would remain an independent, not-for-profit hospital with an independent board. UVAMC would have representation on the CRH Board of Trustees proportionate with its 49 percent investment. UVAMC will participate in long-term strategic decisions of CRH, through its membership of the Board.

Taking aspirin before bed might help lower blood pressure
May 17, 2008 An aspirin a day might help keep high blood pressure at bay if you take the aspirin at bedtime.
That is the finding suggested by data presented at the American Society of Hypertensions Annual Scientific Meeting and Exposition.

The study looked at chronotherapeutics, or the benefits of taking medication at a certain time of day. It enrolled 244 adults who had been diagnosed with prehypertension blood pressure that is higher than normal but not high enough to be classified as hypertension. Prehypertension is often a precursor to hypertension, or high blood pressure.

According to the American Heart Association, prehypertension is defined as a systolic blood pressure level (the top number in a blood pressure reading) of between 120 and 139 mm Hg or a diastolic level (the bottom number) between 80 and 89 mm Hg.

New MRI Brings Comfort, Top Quality Images to CRH
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive procedure that provides exquisite detail of soft tissue, and it can be used for just about any body part. Even so, many patients find it too difficult to lie inside the tight confines of an MRI scanner.

Fortunately, that's no longer a problem for most of the medical imaging patients at CRH. The hospital recently introduced a new Siemens MAGNETOM" Symphony 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner, and the clinical staff are already reporting that patients feel a lot less confined with the new MRI.
